Monitoring of Noise levels on the occasion of Makar Sankaranti during Magh Mela at Sangam, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, India

Abstract

In modern age, noise pollution is a curse for the environment and mankind. If noise pollution is not controlled in any way, it will cause a lead in serious problem in the future. The present study deals with monitoring and assessment of noise pollution on during Magh mela at Sangam, Prayagraj (Allahabad) on before the day of Makar Sankaranti (Pre-Makar Sankaranti), on the day of Makara Sankaranti and after the day of Makar Sankaranti (Post-Makar Sankaranti). Results of the average Equivalent noise level (Leq) exceeded the acceptable noise limits at all the day of monitoring but the highest average Equivalent noise level was found on the day of Makar Sankaranti followed by Pre and Post- Makar Sankaranti.
