Assistive and Adaptive Technologies for Learners with Disabilities

Abstract

A learning disorder emerges from a variety of ways in which the brain of a person is 'wired'. Children with learning disabilities are as intelligent as their peers or more than their peers. But if left to work things out for them or if taught on the current path, they may have tenacious reading, writing, spelling, and reasoning, remembering and/or organizing knowledge. Children with learning disabilities are those that have an intelligent quotient below the average child. They lag behind the other children in the classroom in their age group. Due to the weakness of research, special assistance and guidance are needed for learning disabled children. When they encounter any challenges, they seek the sympathy and encouragement of their friends and relatives. One can't heal or repair a learning disability; it is a lifelong problem. These children with learning disabilities will, however, succeed in school and a prosperous future later in life under the right guidance and intervention. This article critically examines various assistive and adaptive technologies for Learners with Disabilities, Individualized Education plan, Parent-Professional Partnership, role of Peers, Teachers. The main objective of the essay is to motivate academics, writers, and educators in a new way of exploration in the traditional teaching-learning process, to impart critical thinking of the paradigm shift in the theoretical, ideological spheres in the light of postmodern, globalised perspectives.
