Social Welfare Measures In Kulasekaram Of Kanyakumari District- Special Reference To Medical Facilities

Abstract

   The welfare of  society or  region hinges on various factors like buildings, roads, bridges, canals,  telecommunications, Irrigation,  drainage, town planning, and supply of drinking water. The people of kulasekaram are mainly engaged in agriculture .The Kothayar irrigation scheme with its right and left canals has helped the farmers to a great extent for irrigating their fields. Another welfare scheme was the establishment of Chittar Pattanankal Scheme. However with the introduction of Five Year Plan in 1951, health occupied a major role in welfare programs. Which ultimately contributed to the development of the area.
