Abstract

Titanium alloys founds various applications in different sector like aerospace field, biomedical, automotive, nuclear industry due to their high tensile strength, corrosion resistance and light in weight property. This review article exhibits a summary about the various cutting parameter on the tool life in turning operation of Ti-6Al-4V metal by using carbide tools. The optimization of process parameters to minimize the tool wear by considering different aspects like coating delamination, adhesion, attrition, diffusion, plastic deformation and cracks etc. This paper reviews on different optimisation methods and the control factors such as cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut and type of carbide tool material. Tool life plays important role in quality control for evaluating production process. In this article tool life, tool wear, cutting forces have been investigated under cutting operation of Ti-6Al-4V.
