Measuring Corporate Employees Perception towards work from home adopted During Covid-19

Abstract

Purpose of the study: - Covid-19 pandemic disease has paved the start for gig economy with an embryonic of work from home (WFH) culture and the purpose of this paper is to comprehend the employee’s perception towards this culture and predict its acceptance in future, if made permanent by companies.

Methodology: - The present study is based on semi- structured telephonic interview related to which questionnaire was drafted to capture employee’s perception. secondary sources like newspapers, articles and reports is also considered for the study. Sample is collected from 200 corporate employees by using snowball and convenience sampling techniques. Multiple regression Analysis technique is applied to build the model and to analyze its impact on Accepting WFH.

Findings: - Findings of the study shows that factors of comfortness, social collaborations with co-workers creates more powerful impact on employees to accept WFH culture. It also indicates that companies should sort different challenges faced by employees like network issues, feeling of being isolated before implementing this culture permanently. It is very essential to understand employees’ expectations, willingness, level of satisfaction or reasons for reluctance of WFH culture to take corrective measures before its implementation. Findings of the study would be fruitful for the companies to take timely action and plan for the areas where training is required to be given to make this new WFH revolution a platform towards future economy development and a job creating engine as a need of an hour.

Practical Implications: - Study concludes that companies should follow a “Work-Mix pattern” as per the nature of the company to increase comfortness among employees.

Social Implications: - Its crucial for the companies and social economy at large to understand the perception of employees for WFH and accordingly be prepared with the strategies for its successful implementation.
