Abstract

Outages and interruptions are the common and frequent problems that are encountered by the customers.Eventhese problems are discouraged by the utilities as they reduce the reliability of overall system. In today’s competitive scenario, the financial success and customer satisfaction are the two main objectives that need to be fulfilled by the utilities and for this, it becomes very important for the power system network to undergo reliability assessments. Although the concept of reliability is not new for power system pertaining to conventional sources of generation but it is fresh for power system integrated with renewable resources and for hybrid systems. In this paper an attempt has been made to discuss a systematic review related to reliability aspects, and its relation with conventional and different renewable energy systems. The paper facilitates the researchers with updates in reliability concepts regarding conventional and non-conventional power systems. It explores different reliability aspects in renewable energy systems and stress the need for further improvement in terms of planning, analyzing and developing the renewable energy based systems into the power network.
