Role of Art in the Development of Humanity

Abstract

The term "human development" is used to describe the intricate network of variables that influence an individual's well-being throughout the course of their lifetime. When taken as a whole, these variables affect how people think and behave, which in turn affects their social and economic standing, their ability to innovate and produce, and their quality of life. U.S. health and education policymakers in the 21st century have increasingly come to appreciate the need of methods and interventions that take into account "the complete person." They have advocated for a more holistic strategy to policymaking, one that can effectively engage citizens of all ages, backgrounds, and educational experiences. The arts are particularly well-suited to spreading this holistic viewpoint. Multiple studies have shown that exposure to and engagement with the arts has positive effects on children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of cognitive, social, or behavioral domains.
