Understanding Art as a Finer Human Element
Abstract
Philosophers from all periods have systematically looked for definitions of art in order to find a set of characteristics shared by all types of fine arts. However, defining a clear aim for art is a challenging task. Similarly, the question of whether art can teach knowledge or insight remains nearly as old just like philosophy itself. For the high emotional values it offers to its audience, art can be loved, adored, and enjoyed. Art requires an artist's inherent ability, inventiveness, and imagination. Art emerges from a culture that encourages artistic expression, which in turn is born out of the artist's internal need. Despite diverse philosophical perspectives, defining the unified philosophical attributes of contemporary art has been challenging.
