Impact of Bullying in School: A Case Study

Abstract

Bullying is a prevalent kind of peer aggression that occurs mostly throughout adolescence. Defining bullying as "aggressive, premeditated behaviors carried out by a group or a person repeatedly and over time on a victim who cannot readily defend him or herself," the study of bullying has been going on for almost forty years. For aggressive conduct to be classified as bullying, it must meet all three of the following criteria: (1) frequency; (2) purpose; and (3) power disparity. Given these features, bullying is often characterized as the persistent misuse of authority by peers. It's widely acknowledged as a major issue all around the world. Starting with major surveys conducted in Western nations and to a lesser degree in low- and middle-income countries, this study discusses the frequency, age and gender inequalities, and different forms of bullying, as well as why it occurs and how long it lasts. This article examines the potential causes and effects of bullying and victimization. At the end, we'll take a look back at what we already know about how to stop bullying for good.
