Abstract

The combustion process in diesel engines plays a crucial role in determining engine performance and emissions. In this study, a numerical analysis of the combustion process in a diesel engine was performed using the commercial software ANSYS Fluent. The study focused on the effects of injection pressure on engine performance and emissions. Three injection pressures, 1000 bar, 1500 bar, and 2000 bar, were considered in the study. The results showed that increasing injection pressure led to improvements in engine performance, such as an increase in power output and brake thermal efficiency. However, increasing injection pressure also led to higher NOx emissions. The study provides valuable insights into the effects of injection pressure on engine performance and emissions, which can be useful in the design and optimization of diesel engines.
