Abstract

In this study we deal with a non-identical standby units system for evaluation of its ability measures. The whole system consists of two subsystems A and B connected in series.  Supplementary variable function technique has been applied to formulate the mathematical equation for various flow states. The governing equations have been solved by using Laplace transform. We have calculated the expressions for reliability function, availability function, cost function and mean time to failure (MTTF). Analysis of time independent state probabilities and a particular case when all repairs follow exponential distribution have also been given to improve the practical utility of the model.
