Microstructure and Characterization of D-Gun Sprayed Aluminium Oxide-13%Titanium Dioxide and Aluminium Oxide -40% Titanium Dioxidecoatings on ASTM 316 Boiler Steel

Abstract

Thermal spraying has proved to be the widely used and most economic method for developing coatings on different materials for achievingall the neededmaterial characteristics. Protective Coats are most largely and preferably tried and experimented invarious industrial areas, namely automobile industry,thermal powerplants etc. Spraying by d-gun can really be considered as unique coating method well noted for producing coating with very dense microstructure, low porosity, more stronger and Erosion-corrosion resistant coatings. In present work Aluminium oxide-13%Titanium dioxide and Aluminium oxide-40% Titanium dioxide Coatings were deposited over ASTM 316 Boiler tube Steel with D-Gun spray method. Different methods namely X-Ray diffraction (XRD), SEM and X-Ray Mapping are used to characterize both the above mentioned coatings. After the inquiry it was found that the both of the coatings which we wanted to establish have been victoriously established.
