Abstract

Emotion is a feeling derived from particular situation or environment or mood. Recognition of emotion is very important in day to day life. Various approaches for emotion recognition of an individual includes the analysis of audio, analysis of facial expressions and body gestures, handwritten text analysis and psychological assessment. In this paper, a review on emotional state recognition is provided for these approaches. The unimodal emotion recognition that is the analysis of a single approach for emotion recognition and multimodal emotion recognition that is the analysis of combination of various approaches for emotion recognition are studied. Specifically, this research includes handwriting analysis and psychological assessment for emotion recognition which was rarely provided in earlier research work.
