Abstract

Indonesia has launched a school literacy movement program as an effort to improve literacy skills for students. This paper aims to discuss the implementation of the school literacy movement program activities in the habituation stage which supports the mathematical literacy in the North Cimahi region at the secondary school level. This research uses qualitative approach in which the data are collected through questionnaires and interviews. The research subjects consist of 36 secondary schools in the categories of junior high school, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Senior High School, Madrasah Aliyah and Vocational High School. Based on data analysis, it is concluded that all schools have implemented a 15-minute reading culture in the beginning of learning activity based on religious literacy. The collection of non-learning books is dominated by novels, story books and comics, while the collection of non-learning mathematical texts are rarely provided. Besides, Corridors and other areas are not optimumly used to display reading campaign posters. This also happens to the use of gardens, canteens and school health unit to promote clean, healthy and beautiful living habituation campaigns. Furthermore, the habituation of introducing mathematics in the form of reading texts, graphics, pictures and mathematical symbols through posters display have not been carried out well.
