JINENG: LOCAL WISDOM BASED STRATEGY FOR FOOD DEFENSE MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Food defense is conceptualized as multi-availability as multi availability for families and the availability of facilities to access food easily. Jineng (granary) as one of the local cultural heritage in Bali has a philosophy that is very closely related to family food defense. The era of globalization, both in terms of policy and public understanding of Jineng's philosophy, influences Jineng's existence as a symbol of food defense and the welfare of the Balinese people. This can be seen from the decreasing use of Jineng as a food storage area which has an analogy with the welfare level of the Jineng owner. This paper is a review of the preservation of Jineng as one of the legacies of local wisdom which has a philosophy of living simply and frugally. The result of the research which is used as a reference is the perception of the Balinese people towards the preservation of Jineng in the village of Jatiluwih Tabanan. From the results of this study, almost 70% of the people still maintain to have Jineng as a place to store food, especially rice yields. This shows that by having Jineng the community still has staple food reserves as a reserve during the paceklik (famine) period.
