Abstract

Currently, authentication depends on the most commonly used passwords for device reliability and privacy. However, user actions such as selecting weak passwords in an unsafe way in the authentication chain. Alternatively, users may prefer alphanumeric passwords (either small or any specific strings for easy recognition). Presently the users are widely using many software applications anywhere by accessing their devices. This causes, they reveal their passwords easily to shoulder surfing attacks. The attackers easily find out passwords from the users directly or indirectly. To overcome from these shoulder surfing attacks, we introduce that a new authentication system i.e. Pass Matrix. The system relies primarily on pictorial password to reduce shoulder surfing attacks. This system includes 1time rational login indicator/pointer and representation of entire scope of pass-images into a grid format. Pass Matrix does not offers any clue for attackers to resolve the graphical passwords. We implemented the Pass Matrix model on analyzed user experiments and Android apps to check their efficiency and utility. From the results, the advanced system gains high support to shoulder surfing attacks, while maintaining the advantage of the system
