Industrial Vacuum Attached with a Metal Chips Wringer Machine for Cleaning and Separating Process

Abstract

The paper discuss about cleaning process of metal chips from hobbing machine, and separating process of the chips and coolant oil. Hobbing machine produce thousand sprocket daily with abundance chips left. Traditionally, this industrial waste are cleaned up by using wet and dry vacuum, while direct sun expose are used for drying process. For 10 kg of metal chips produced; at about 3.125 minutes required for cleaning process by two general workers. By using single blower and twin blower industrial vacuum, the time increase to 4 minutes and reduce to 2 minutes, respectively. The time shorten is 36% for twin blower industrial vacuum. For 15 kg metal chips drying process; 8 minutes and 5 minutes time taken for low spinner and medium spinner wringer machine, respectively, compared to at about 169 minutes by using direct sun drying. The time reduction is about 95% for both type of spinner. The third factor discussed in this paper are the usage of coolant oil. By using conventional process, about 20 liter coolant oil needed, while the amount reduce to 15 liter when the wringer machine used for whole process. The cost saving for coolant oil usage is about 25%
