Development of a Model for the IntensifiedMass Transfer Coefficients by the Insertion of Three Sided Objects across Vertical Conduits
Abstract
Experiments results were shown in this paper for the augmentations obtained in mass transfer coefficients. These intensified results were obtained by inserting the three sided triangular plate in a 50mm I.D. vertical column axially across the flow containing an electrolyte simulated for studying the augmentations in transfer coefficients. An attempt to correlate the findings with Colburn factor jD and Reynolds number Re was done in this paper. The effect of various parameters of the inserted three sided triangular plate is studied to know the overall enhancements in transfer coefficients. The parameters such as three sidedplate size (Ss), thickness of three sidedplate (Sw)and spacing between the plates (h) in the vertical column are studied in depth to have a thorough knowledge on the behaviour in the coefficient values. The results are compared with earlier researcher’s findings and a correlation in terms of jDversus NRe is developed as follows
