Abstract

Over the last decade, automobiles have become an increasingly essential element in any socio-economic environment. In this regard, the automotive industry plays a major role in both economic and societal values for both developed and developing countries. Automotive industries hence have all the more reason to adapt sustainability while facing pressures from various sources. With Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM), more companies have benefited from trying to adapt sustainability in their practices. However, there are still many challenges associated with sustainability in terms of understanding and implementation of sustainability drivers in measuring sustainability. The present study focuses on explaining the influences of these drivers in automobile industries and the influences of them over each other through an index using permanent function. This article contains the literature review on SSCM drivers, the methods employed in this study, problem formulation and framework for measuring sustainability and the proposed methodology for assessing sustainability. The results, inferences and discussions on future scope of the present study are discussed in concluding part of the article..
