Estimation and Scheduling of Residential Building using Primavera P6

Abstract

With the onset of multi-storied buildings in metropolitan cities, Planning, Estimation and Scheduling has become a major concept to considered for smooth execution of construction works. A project turns out to be a liability after a said amount of work is done the main reason being lack of capital. The best way to manage this process is by estimating the quantities in advance as this will help in finding the said amount of labours required for the specified job and also help in overall cost generation of the project. Estimation is helpful in devising the amount of capital required for execution of a specific construction work which would assist the contractors/builders to better manage their finances and avoid bankruptcy. Oracle’s Primavera P6 is an ideal tool for determination of an effective schedule for construction activities. All the important estimations like Reinforcements, Concrete, Excavation, etc. are performed along with consequential steps like creating an EPS, creating a WBS, calendars, milestones, activity creation, activity relation and project tracking would be perspicuously exhibited in this report.
