Abstract

The main aim of the smart grid is to adopt the modern communication techniques to increase the efficiency of the power control system. IOT based communication network is introduced in the smart grid system to develop a stable and efficient power control system in the smart micro grid. The role of the communication system in the smart grid is more important in handling the power and management functionalities. To evaluate the performance of the system a test bed is required which simulates the requirement and conditions of the smart micro grid. An IOT based energy management system is designed for improving the reliability of the smart grid. The smart grid with fuel cell as power generating unit and battery & super capacitor for storage unit and the three phase load with load profile was designed. An energy management system was designed to monitor the generation and demand for power in smart grid system. The monitored results were stored in the thing speak cloud storage for sharing information between power generators and consumer end for better power management in their sides.
