Abstract

New technologies have transformed traditional business or commerce into digital or electronic commerce (e-commerce). This transition brought about many advantages and benefits as follows: less process time, cost, errors, and mistakes for both sellers and buyers. Examining and analyzing factors influencing the successful and effective implantation of e-business are the goals of this research. In particular, a three-dimensional conceptual model is suggested, that is comprised of technological, organizational, and environmental elements. The analysis of the proposed conceptual model is an important and relevant subject for study, as this multidimensional method has been discussed before in the published literature. This framework is tested on a sample of hotels, with 415 hotels in the final sample. The validity and the reliability of the recently designed questionnaire were carefully analyzed. The “structural equation modeling” technique was employed to examine empirical data. The outcomes of the study demonstrate that the most critical elements to successfully implement e-business are as follows: complexity, compatibility, relative advantage, learning capabilities, organizational readiness, top management emphasis, government support, and competitive pressure. A drawback arising from the adopted approach is the utilization of self-report scales for measuring the proposed model’s constructs. Additionally, this current study is cross-sectional and offers a static image of e-business adoption and appears to be lacking a longitudinal method.
