Abstract
The postcolonial era brought extensive changes in the lives of the Indians in India as well as the Indians who migrated to foreign soils.The women are also seen playing a pivotal in establishing new boundaries based on ethnic and national identities Their experiences stimulated enthusiasm and imagination among the writers of the era. Jumpha Lahiri and Kiran Desai who has exposed to this panorama are no exception to that. They presented in detail the predicaments of the migration and their endeavours to assimilate and preserve their own culture at the same time are depicted in their creative works.
