Abstract

Additional amount of wastewater in the pipes can lead to safety backups leading to overflows of sanitary sewers. Monitoring of underground urban infrastructure is important in order to control foreign water flow into the pipeline. The city's underground IoT systems such as waste water and flood runoff management can be built through the integration of wireless underground Telecommunications and sensor technologies. In this paper, the route loss assessment was proposed for the tracking of wireless underground communications in urban underground IoT. It has been shown that contact between the underground transmitter and the asphalt substrate can be maintained for up to 4 kilometres.
