With the foundation of EI theory, this study interrogates the moderating effect of mindfulness between the linkage of emotional intelligence (EI) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The authors also investigate the mediating effect of psychopathy (PSY) trait between the relationship of EI and OCB. The hypothesis of this study was tested with a sample of 288 participants working in different public sector organizations, who voluntarily participate in this study. Smart-PLS and SPSS 25.0 software has been used for data analysis with different techniques of data analysis i.e. Path Analysis, PLS Algorithm, Hierarchical Regression, PLS-Bootstrapping, Hayes PROCESS for mediation and moderation analysis. Findings of the present research suggest that there is no mediation of PSY between the relationship of EI and MFS, which reveals that there is no indirect effect of negative personality on OCB when individuals on the high level of EI. Additionally, we found that MFS moderate the relationship of EI and OCB, which discloses that MFS provides potential strength to individuals when they high at the level of EI and MFS, they perform OCB at a higher level. Theoretically, the current study adds knowledge in literature of OB and Personality Psychology and practically this research suggested that policymaker of public sector organizations provide coaching and training to individuals about emotional intelligence and mindfulness and give awareness to their workforce that how they can use these tools to overcome the negativity of their personality characteristic at the workplace, that further enhance the individual level and organizational level outcomes. Overall, this study contributed to the theory of EI by integrating EI, MFS and OCB synergies with interesting narrative results, especially within the public sector of developing Asian country context.
