Performance Analysis of PIDD Controllers for Automatic Load Frequency Control of Multi-area Power System

Abstract

The problem of Automatic Load Frequency Control is illustrated with Proportional Integral Double Derivative (PIDD) controller and PID controller for multi area power system. Every area of the power system includes one reheat thermal, a hydro and gas units have been presented for the study. A three area multi unit power system has been addressed with PIDD controller and the performance is judged against PID controller for 10% of step load perturbation in area one. Total work was carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK. Simulation results disclose that, PIDD controller provides better performance parameters.
