Bandwidth Enhanced CPW Fed Microstrip Antenna With DGS

Abstract

This paper proposes dual bandwidth enhanced  Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW) fed antenna with Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The projected antenna has been designed on FR-4 substrate having a dielectric constant (of 4.4 with patch dimensions of 16.02mm  11.97mm. The outer contour of the radiating patch was etched in order to improve the bandwidth and resonance. Copper was adapted as conducting material for radiating patch and ground. The proposed antenna provides two bandwidths, one with 3.08 GHz while resonating at 3.24GHz and 5.27GHz and another with 700 MHz at 6.88GHz and 7.335GHz. The lowest return loss of -58 dB has been achieved in the larger bandwidth. HFSS has been used for the design and simulation of the antenna.
