Abstract

In this study the quality of indoor air of the historical heritage of Sohag university museum has been investigated. Total suspended particulate (TSP) concentration in the indoor air of the museum and its constituents of water soluble ions and total organic matter were measured to examine their effects on exhibits. Indoor air quality can affect and damage the state of works of art exhibited inside museums. Museums, usually suffer badly from the higher levels of air pollutants. A continual evaluation and strict monitoring for the control of such contamination using the most appropriate materials should be taken to preserve the valuable exhibits.
