Abstract

In this paper, a simple tree shape inspired single element antenna with the help of Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is presented for Wi-Fi, Industrial Scientific and Medical (ISM) band and X band applications. It is an omnidirectional multi-band antenna, designed for wireless communication devices with the operating bands at 2.4 GHz, 2.45 GHz, and 6.9 GHz. The tree-structured patch has five circles, each circle having a radius of 4mm. Different kinds of slots such as the inverted L – shaped slots and plus-shaped slots have been used. The patch covers an overall area of 40mm × 30mm. The Defected Ground Structure proved to configure defects and helped in bandwidth enhancement.
