The Effectiveness of Calistung Digital Android-based Game Application towards the Emergence Literacy of Early Childhood

Abstract

This article aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of game Calistung digital-based android to improve the emergence literacy early childhood. Methods of experiments carried out on 26 early childhood aged 5-6 years. Design research that is used is a pre-experimental design. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling. The collection of data emergence  literacy of early childhood aged 5-6 years using guidelines observations which consists of dimensions (1) knowledge of reading and books, with the indicator (a) show interest in the book; holding a book in a correct position, (b) pay attention to reading aloud in a group of small to medium, (c) pretends to read, (d) create a story that is by the drawings, (e) enjoy the repetition of a book or a story specific and can memorize words -said or phrase particular, (f) already started to understand that the text is written to bring meaning, (g) to identify and give names Part of large letters ; (2) writing, with indicators (a) pretend to write, (b) scribble, form letters, drawings to be more easily identified, (c) can write the name of the future with most large letters are correct ( some may not be formed with true ), (d) to give meaning to the efforts in the words of the written and can be read back to the adult or friend of the same age, (e) drawing and painting, with efforts to increase in significance in the drawing. Rate the emergence of literacy by using a scale of 1 - 4. The results of the study concluded that there is an increase in the value of the average occurrence of literacy early childhood aged 5-6 years through the game Calistung. The study implies that the competence of teachers in using the media game Calistung  digital needs to be improved through in-service training as an effort to improve the appearance of literacy early childhood.
