Studies on Heat Transfer Augmentation using Nanofluids
Abstract
Nanofluids are nanoparticle suspensions in conventional heat transfer fluids that exhibit improved heat transfer properties at modest nanoparticle concentrations. Nanofluids have distinctive heat transfer properties and are utilized in high heat flux systems such as solar collectors, nuclear reactors, electronic cooling systems and heat exchangers. Stability of suspension is crucial in developing and applying these heat transfer fluids for different applications. This article addresses the effect of nano particle concentration, Reynolds number and other parameters on heat transfer characteristics of nanofluids by summarizing the research conducted by many researchers over the past decade.
