Abstract

Job satisfaction is an important attribute to retain an employee in an organization. The satisfied employees create a better working environment which helps in increased productivity.  Also, the unsatisfied employees will be actively seeking for another job, whereas a satisfied employee will stay back and be loyal to the company and its growth.  The present research work was conducted to study the satisfaction of employees at ONGC on their job and also the effect of demographic variables on job satisfaction.  Descriptive research design was used and primary data was collected through a structured questionnaire from 250 employees randomly selected in five departments on ONGC.  The statistical tools like t-test and ANOVA were deployed for data analysis and the study revealed that the employees at ONGC were satisfied on their job.  It was also found through this study that the demographic variables Age, Income and Religion had a significant impact on a couple of dimensions of job satisfaction.
