Mobility Aware IoT Enabled Vehicular Wireless Communications Using Clustering Based Multicast Routing
Since from last decade, the increasing interest and research introduced over the development of efficient Internet of Things (IoT) enabled applications, especially related to the smart city. For such IoT enabled applications, the key part is the efficient communications and routing to handle the different types of traffics such as multimedia communications. Various types of routing protocols introduced, however in IoT applications, the information needs to be transmitted to particular groups of nodes, and hence the most of IoT applications prefer to use the multicasting approach. This can be done by using the multicast routing protocols. In literature, many multicast routing protocols designed for the wireless network communications. However, application of IoT enabled Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) it is always difficult to design robust and reliable multicast routing dues to high density and scalability problems. In this paper we proposed the mobility aware Robust and Reliable Multicast Routing (R2MR) protocol. To address the mobility related problems first we proposed the efficient clustering algorithm. The cluster head (CH) selection and formation performed according to probability of nodes mobility and geographical distance parameters. After the cluster formation, we design the multicast routing protocol to establish the efficient communication path for Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) or Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communications. For performance evaluations, we designed the VANETs networks with varying mobility. The performance of proposed protocol shows the improvement over the recent existing protocols.
