Circularly Polarized Tapered Slotted Num Reflector Based S Shaped Multi Band Circular Microstrip Antenna

Abstract

The papers signifies a multi band operating circularly polarised microstrip antenna with tapered feed and non-uniform based meta-surfaces are arranged over the reflector. The design incorporates the slotting technique where the radiating plane contain S shaped curved slot.  The antenna designed over FR 4 substrate over an area of 37.5x37.5x1.2λ mm where the λ is the central frequency of operation over the band 1.5-16 GHz. The custom slotting technique with non-uniform Meta surface arrangement resulted a minimum return loss of -40 dB and gain of 4.41 dB with VSWR less than 2. Further the antenna performance characteristics were analysed at different di electric constants of the substrate. Interference among the frequencies are also minimised enabling the antenna applications in UWB positioning systems, indoor base stations.
