Abstract

This paper represents an investigation on optimization of cutting parameters affecting work piece surface roughness by using other edge turning, boring bar & other edge of CNMG 120408 insert .These toolsare mainly used in industry for turning operations .Whereas, CNMG is a negative insert having angle 80 & its four edges are used but other edge is ignored to be taken in any useful operation. Therefore to increase its utilization and optimize the cost of machining, the other edge is considered to be used in operation such as boring. As most of industries disposed off tools after using main four edges used for machining process, the introduction of other edge of insert will lead to increase values as well as productivity with availability of four more edges to be used.
