Power Qualıty Improvement usıng Hysteresıs Controlled Dstatcom System

Abstract

DSTATCOM is a shunt type reactive power compensation device belongs to FACTS family. Transient switching and smooth variation of reactive power are the advantages of DSTATCOM. This paper presents the three phase Hysteresis controlled nine level Multilevel Inverter (MLI) based DSTATCOM system. Interleaved Boost Converter (ILBC) is employed to boost the PV voltage, is applied to nine level MLI based DSTATCOM system. The performance of the hysteresis controller (HC) is analyzed and compared in terms of rise time, peak time, settling time and state error with Proposed Resonance Controller (PRC) and the results reveal that HC controlled DSTATCOM system has a better performance. Stepped Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation is used to generate switching pulses of the inverter and is simulated using MATLAB Simulink.
