Investigation of Variable Sliding Velocity of Electromagnets on Internal Surface Roughness of Brass Pipes
In conventional machining processes, the surface roughness and dimensional accuracy of parts strictly depends upon machine tool system such as cutting tool, machine tool, work surface, machining conditions and fluid. In case of brass pipes, the internal finish is paramount for certain applications of hot fluid flow to minimize eddies, head loss and smooth flow. Thus, series of experiments were conducted to develop an economical set-up for finishing brass pipes. The influence of sliding velocity of electromagnets with number of cycles has been studies on internal finish of brass pipes. The experimental results revealed higher role of sliding velocity of electromagnets in improving surface finish of pipes. The higher sliding velocity leads to work hardening of surface which facilitates easy cutting and smoother surface.
