Smart Home System Using Android Application

Abstract

This paper presents a standalone, low cost smart home system, which is based on an Android application which communicates with a Cloud server and using NodeMCU microcontroller. This application is also connected with several sensors and relays, which is connected directly to the NodeMCU microcontroller. Further, this application provides basic smart home switching functionalities. This application allows the smart home environment to be controlled and monitored from any remote location using the Cloud server which is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G network. Finally, this smart home application is tested and it is able to successfully perform the basic smart home operations as proposed in the initial design phase.
