Drowsiness Detection using Image Processing

Abstract

Most of the road accidents occur due to lack of attention of the driver due to drowsiness. Other drivers are also at risk due to careless behaviour of the drowsy driver. Apart from death and injuries, accidents also cause financial losses and low productivity. As a result, Driver Drowsiness has become a major factor contributing to road accidents. Hence, there is a need to implement a system that identifies the drowsy behaviour of the driver and warn him using a Buzzer. This paper gives results of some objectives and techniques used by the researchers for identifying driver’s drowsiness while driving in real time. The objectives of which results are given in this paper are – to detect whether eyes are closed and mouth is opened.
