An Approach for Monitoring and Analyzing Parking Occupancies using IoT

Abstract

  In major cities, car drivers are facing congested problems with inconsistent parking. Automotive application provides the slot information. Node MCU is used for processing the information and to control the mechanical setup. System also includes the booking option to pre-book the empty slot with the help of simple messaging protocol i.e. MQTT. Authentication can be done with the help of both RFID and ALPR. RFID can be used to analyze and detect the user details bypassing the radio waves to the user tag which is provided by the unique identification number. ALPR camera can be used to detect the vehicle information. Vehicle authentication can be done, when ALPR camera collected data syncs with the RFID registered data. The payment generation for parking the vehicle in park slot, should be calculated according to the time i.e. from the time when the vehicle enters at the entry gate to the time when the vehicle leaves at the exit gate.
