Electricity Theft Detection by using Image Processing

Abstract

Electricity boards providing electricity to home appliances as well as industrial applications. In India Central Government, State Government Organizations etc. are providing electricity to the electricity users. In world India has third rank in electricity production and also having more electricity consumer. Indian government stared a plan of national grid in 1990. The regional grids were internally connected by asynchronous Very High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) links by exchanging the regulated electric power. Electricity links were upgraded to high capacity synchronous links. The major power theft happening by the meter bypassing (meter fraud) and without using electric meter (Getting direct connection from electric pole). Sometimes political interfered also responsible for the power theft increases during election periods. Number of electricity wires in India are not protects which causes unlawful snare ups by clients . For such problem electricity theft detection by using image processing (ETDUIP) helps to find solution.
