Penetration of renewable energy sources has made power system more complex and unpredictable. This paper presents a case of Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) constituting photovoltaic (PV) system, wind energy and fuel cell with grid supply along with battery storage. It also presents the mathematical modeling of PV, wind and fuel cell systems used in hybrid renewable energy systems. The objective is to optimize the internal microgrid load balancing capability considering reliability of HRES and the capacity of the utility grid. The paper focuses optimal scheduling of HRES in a microgrid by using optimal scheduling algorithm and peak load shaving is obtained by remodeling the load curve. The results show the energy consumption could be limited to maximum demand by using optimal scheduling program. ER -
