The goal to align with the trajectory of sustainable development has created a need for the development and enhancement of nationwide statistical systems that assist in the production of timely available and internationally comparable data. This paper assesses the determinants that affect the periodicity index of the overall statistical capacity indicator. The research applies an econometric model to empirically examine the relationship between the periodicity scores for India and human resources, financial resources and research and development in a nation that may impact the periodicity index. Research results show that as funding attributed to statistical capacity development tends to increase in an economy, the periodicity index also tends to rise. The study shows that an increased need for research and development in an economy also tends to raise the score of the periodicity index. The government should focus on effective human capital development, financial allocation for statistical capacity development and promote research and development to improve statistical capacity. An improvement in the capacity index further stimulates economic development and growth of an economy by assisting in informed decision making and policy formulation at a macroeconomic level. The trajectory of growth rate of an economy as a whole can be elevated, as statistical data is evolving to become a new central point in driving efficient policies for the people of a nation. ER -
