A Roadmap of Challenges for OpenFlow-SDN Based IoT Networks
Internet of Things (IoT) furnishes a large number of heterogeneous hardware devices associated with the Internet. IoT is an idea where the information flows freely amongst the devices that are connected to Internet for the purpose of communication. It is anticipated that in various fields of viability the applicability of IoT is widespread. The diversity of IoT introduces numerous benefits into various domains such as safety, transportation, health-care, business, military and many more. Managing such huge data over the Internet to tackle the future concerns in the IoT, recent advances presented a new innovation paradigm for the future correspondence named as Software Defined Network (SDN) to carry the traffic/data in the right destination in a much automated way. This is prominent networking paradigm that hopes to change the constraints of traditional network infrastructures in such a way, firstly breaks upright integration by isolating the control plane from prime switches and routers which moves the traffic forward, Secondly, separating data plane and control plane, as a result switches become forwarding devices and control plane is implemented as a centralized controller. In this paper, we have included the work done in the field of SDN based IoT of past 7 years (2013 to mid-2019) in order to find the variations takes place in these recent years. Additionally, provided the challenges and research direction in SDN based IoT in order to enhance the capabilities of both the technologies up to an extent and also analyse the work done of past 7 years on various parameters such as scalability, flexibility, peculiarity, reliability, traffic computation, protocols, feasibility, security, stability and deployment.
