Abstract

            The Flight Delay Optimization paper provides a survey about the various approaches that can contribute to flight schedule optimization by algorithms and methodologies used, in order to collect and interpret flight data statistics to assess operational efficiency. The aviation sector operations across the world cater to large amount of data statistics which are crucial for determining the envisaged scope of optimization. With the need for increase in capacity for operations such as air traffic control, control of queues on runways, flight scheduling and performance, big data analytics will play a significant role in arriving at the optimization strategies by reducing flight delays. The aspects covered for the optimization process includes air transportation process, associated parametric functions, methodologies and the tools that exist for the optimization process. In addition, various evaluation strategies has been carried out for achieving flight delay optimization
