Abstract

With the growing popularity of Tor as anonymity platform, many attacks had been studied by researchers to deanonymise the Tor’s user. However, there is a lack of thorough comprehension of the deanonymise outcome in Tor attack studies. Comparing the attack outcome from one study to another could be ambiguous especially on the anonymity perspective. It is expected that with proper categorisation of the deanonymise outcome, comparison between Tor attack studies in deanonymise outcome perspective could be much more transparent and precise. Hence, this study aims to provide thorough classifications of the deanonymise outcome of Tor attack studies. To achieve that, an in-depth discussion on the anonymity principals that Tor is providing is presented. Then, a set of deanonymise outcome classification is being defined correspond to the current Tor’s deanonymise attack studies outcome.  Finally, it can be revealed that over the years, communication entities correlation has received the most attention compared to other categories of the deanonymise outcome on Tor attack studies.
