Designing Mobile-Game Based Learning Application for Children on Oral Health Education Using Islamic Culture
Abstract
A role-play educating game derives a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction for children. This will build and enhance their understanding of learning through educational games and foster their interest in the relevant field. However, there is lacking mobile learning applications on role-playing games that embedded Islamic cultural elements. The research aims to design a mobile game-based learning application for role-playing that embeds the Islamic cultural element. The objectives involve identifying requirements, design and develop the mobile game-based learning application. The method involved interviewing parents and kindergarten teachers in gathering requirements. The study adapted the Digital Educational Game Development Methodology (GAMED) into three phases which are (1) requirement, (2) game design, and (3) implementation. The application focuses on the Islamic elements which are Islamic prayer reading, Muslim attire, and Muslim greetings. Future work may involve adding more challenging levels of dental treatment and add up more Islamic culture elements into the games.
