Investigating Motivational Dimension of E-Learning

Abstract

The benefits of sharing resources and information between students and educators can be extremely beneficial. The accessibility of the information and resource can be achieved by using internet technology, hence, making the learning process more efficient. Motivation is seen as one of the key elements that drive the e-learning design. Appropriate learning activity plans and suitable instructional design should be properly determined to boost motivation. The main objective of this research is to investigate the motivational dimensions of e-Learning. The motivational dimension investigated were; (i) ‘Stimulating’, (ii) ‘Meaningful’, (iii) ‘Organized’ and (iv) ‘Easy to Use’. Few recommendations to improve motivational element in the e-learning from one public university in Malaysia were also being provided. The survey was conducted with 728 students from a local public university in Malaysia. Future work involves engagement with the developer of e-learning to continuously improve the design and user interface of the e-learning website.
