Strategic Design Management Capability Framework for Bumiputera SME Furniture Manufacturer

Abstract

The study attempts to identify the factors that affect the unsuccessful participation of Bumiputera furniture manufacturers in the export market through the industry indicators evaluation and also to examines the landscape of the Malaysia furniture industry. This study uses a literature review and structured interview to document the current scenarios of Malaysia furniture industry. Then, it uses a data analysis to determine the appropriate components as industry indicators in developing the framework. In addition, this study also is to enhance the understanding of the Bumiputera manufacturers and strengthen the evidence base for the policy developers. As a result of this study, it will provide solutions that will regenerate the economic importance of furniture classes in the years to come. By resolving the common concern, it is possible to escalate the Bumiputera manufacturing companies to be ahead not only for the domestic market but also for the global market.
