Multiliterate: The Best Choice in Learning to Write Poetry

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of learning poetry in a multiliterate perspective. Until now poetry learning in the Bahasa Indonesia and literature education program (PBSI) at the Madiun Residency, in general, has run quite well, but more innovative learning models still need to be found. As a multiliterate learning model that is able to stimulate and develop student creativity. This study aims to describe critically the various obstacles of poetry learning currently in the Indonesian language and literature education study program in the Residency of Madiun, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement with multiliterate learning models. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive-interpretative approach. This approach is considered capable of describing the opinions or views that exist in the object of research. The results of this study include: 1) learning poetry in the Indonesian language and literature education program (PBSI) at the Madiun Residency at present there are several obstacles, namely the imbalance of literary courses in the curriculum in the Indonesian language and literature education study program (PBSI) at the Madiun Residency, 2) students' interest in literary courses especially writing poetry is very low which is influenced by factors of student background, literary learning outlook factors especially poetry is not important, and the low culture of reading literature for students, and 3) the need for multiliterate learning models of interview data illustrates that teaching staff are in dire need of new learning models, practical, and easy to understand to be implemented.
